Top Outer Banks Events for Week of August 14th

This week and upcoming weekend is loaded with festivals and events for everyone throughout the Outer Banks.

The 34th Pirate’s Cove Billfish Tournament kicks off with registration today then 4 days of fishing from Tuesday, Aug. 15th ending Friday, Aug 18th with the awards celebration. Tournament Week includes awesome sponsors, food, entertainment and fun for the crew and the family. Fans can follow along listening in on real time captain chatter and live webcasts of the results each day!

The New World Festival of the Arts returns to the Manteo waterfront this week on Wednesday & Thursday, Aug. 16th & 17th. The annual juried outdoor art show features paintings, drawings, photography, jewelry, sculpture, pottery and more from over 75 nationally recognized artists. Come check out the show from 10am-5pm each day with free admission and parking.

Also on Wednesday & Thursday is the Outer Banks Pirate Festival hosted by Kitty Hawk Kites at Jockey’s Ridge Crossing. Bring the kids out for a swashbuckling’ good time with a full schedule of fun and educational activities both days.

Celebrate the birthday of Virginia Dare on Friday, Aug. 18th at the Virginia Dare Faire with free activities and entertainment all day on the grounds of the Fort Raleigh National Park Site. The event continues at night with a performance of The Lost Colony.

Get ready for a great week of fun events with beautiful weather this week on the Outer Banks.

Celebrate Summer with Kitty Hawk Kites and support the Outer Banks Bicycle & Pedestrian Safety Coalition at the Annual Outer Banks Watermelon Festival on Thursday, August 3rd at Jockey’s Ridge Crossing in Nags Head. There will be games, eating contests, face painting, tie-dye shirt making, arts & crafts, an inflatable waterslide, tons of watermelon, food and fun!

Also on August 3rd, TRI OBX Sports presents the 2017 Outer Banks Run, Swim, Run & 5K on the beach at Jennette’s Pier in Nags Head. Come participate in this open water run, swim, run event paired with a casual & walker friendly 5k – online and walk-up registration is available – get more details here.

As always, there is also a bunch of live music nightly at restaurants throughout the Outer Banks…

Top Outer Banks Events & Live Music for Week of July 24th

This week and upcoming weekend is packed with live music and lunch & dinner specials every day at restaurants all over the Outer Banks.

Some of the live nightly shows featuring local musicians include: Monday the 24th – Broughton Aycock at the Outer Banks Brewing Station and Steve Hauser at Aqua Restaurant; Tuesday – Mojo Collins at The Inn on Pamlico Sound and The Wilders at Rooster’s; and Wednesday – Chad Bennett at The Inn on Pamlico Sound and Phil Watson at Rooster’s.

On Thursday evening, July 27th, the Concerts on the Green series in Duck continues with Dark Water Rising, an award-winning Native American group featuring an amazing Indie Rock/Blues sound. Pack up the coolers and chairs, bring the kids and pets, and enjoy some great music on the lawn.

More live shows on Friday night include: Greg Shelton at Argyle’s, Uncle Butch at Rooster’s, and Mojo Collins at Turner’s High Moon Bar.

Zeppelin fans, don’t miss ZoSo – The Ultimate Led Zeppelin Experience on Saturday the 29th on the Pavilion Stage at Roanoke Island Festival Park. Much more than a tribute, this show is the most accurate and captivating live show since the real thing.

Top Outer Banks Events & Live Music for Week of July 10th

Check out all the great events happening this week and upcoming weekend on the Outer Banks. There is a full slate of live music, lunch and dinner specials every day at restaurants throughout the Outer Banks.

Besides those nightly restaurant shows, music lovers can get outside and enjoy this week’s Concert on the Green in Duck on Thursday evening, July 13th or Pickin’ on the Porch at Bluegrass Island Trading Co. in Manteo on Friday, July 14th.

This weekend, July 15th & 16th, Kitty Hawk Kites presents the 39th Annual Wright Kite Festival at the Wright Brothers National Memorial in Kill Devil Hills as huge kites will be on display throughout. Families can participate with their own kites, take stunt lessons from the pros, and tour the aviation museum.

Also on Saturday & Sunday, come watch the area’s most talented skimboarders compete at the Outer Banks Skim Jam on the beach at Jennette’s Pier in Nags Head.

Top Outer Banks Events & Live Music for Week of June 26th

There’s a ton of live music and events on the Outer Banks this week and upcoming weekend leading in to the Fourth of July holiday.

Kick off your flip flops, lace up your running shoes and join TRI Outer Banks Sports for the 4th season of the Run, Swim, Run Outer Banks “Splash & Dash” Series on Thursday, June 29th at 8am. This is an open water Run, Swim, Run event paired with a casual, walker-friendly 5k held on the beach at Jennette’s Pier in Nags Head.

The second date in the Concerts on the Green Series is Thursday evening, June 29th from 6:30-8pm on the Duck Town Green. Bring your coolers, chairs, and blankets and jam out to Urban Soil from Raleigh performing their unique mix of Americana, rock, and soul.

The feature event of the week has to be Boyd Tinsley (of Dave Matthews Band) performing with his band, Crystal Garden, at their Summer Tour Kickoff Party at the New York Pizza Pub in Nags Head on Sunday, July 2nd at 10pm. The following night, July 3rd, TR3 featuring Tim Reynolds takes the stage at NYPP with special guest opener, The Ramble. Both shows are sure to be amazing.

There is also a full slate of live music every night at restaurants throughout the Outer Banks. Try out some dinner specials and catch a show.
