Top Outer Banks Events & Restaurant Specials for Week of June 5th
This week the action is in full swing at the Triple-S Kiteboarding Invitational in Waves. There are competitions and parties every day until the final on Friday. Get over there and check out some of the best kiteboarders on the planet. The epic music lineup is headlined by Mix Master Mike & Ky-Mani Marley on Monday, June 5th and Method Man & Redman on Friday, June 9th!
The Faire Days Summer Festival Series also kicks off this week at the Scarborough Faire Shopping Village in Duck. Starting Wednesday, June 7th, and recurring every Wednesday until August 30th, you can bring the family out for live music, magicians, arts & crafts, tastings, shop specials and more!
The final show of the Soundside Live Sunset Concert Series in Nags Head will be on Thursday, June 8th featuring Marco Benevento, Ripe, and Fireside Collective. The free show also includes a performance by Imagine Circus, a cirque-style entertainment troop with aerial arts, acrobatics, fire, theatrics and dance. It’s a full day of fun, food, and entertainment you won’t want to miss.
This upcoming weekend, June 10th & 11th, The 35th Annual Rogallo Kite Festival presented by Kitty Hawk Kites will be held at Jockey’s Ridge State Park and Jockeys Ridge Crossing and is free to the public. Come out and see large kite displays, learn to fly various kites, experience kite-making, and enjoy tons of family fun activities.

After a beautiful Memorial Day weekend, the Outer Banks Summer season is already underway with more great events on the schedule this week.
The second show of the Soundside Live Sunset Concert Series is Thursday, June 1st at the Soundside Event Site in Nags Head featuring performances by national touring acts, Cris Jacobs, Selwyn Birchwood, and Ruth Wyand & The Tribe of One. The free show also includes an amazing circus act, local cuisine from Outer Banks restaurants, and handmade goods from the area’s most creative artisan vendors.
June 3rd through the 9th, internationally recognized as the crown jewel of wakestyle kiteboarding competition, the 2017 Wind Voyager Triple-S Invitational will showcase the talents of the best wakestyle kiteboarders on the planet. The format pits riders against one another in high-stakes heats and laid-back freeriding sessions in the world’s premier kite park. It’s 7 days of riding and 7 nights of parties featuring an epic music lineup including Ky-Mani Marley, Mix Master Mike, DJ QBert, and Method Man & Redman.
Looking to work off those hotdogs and hamburgers? Sunday, June 4th is Storm the Beach, a full-fledged obstacle course and adventure race held on the beach at Jennette’s Pier in Nags Head. Athletes of all abilities crawl, climb, and conquer obstacles such as Swamp Scum and Sandfiddler Crawl.

Get ready for Memorial Day weekend on the Outer Banks! This upcoming weekend kicks off the Summer season with lots of fun events for the whole family.
The first show of the Soundside Live Sunset Concert Series is Thursday, May 25th at the Soundside Event Site in Nags Head featuring performances by national touring acts, Red Wanting Blue, The Commonheart, and Tropidelic. The free show also includes an amazing circus act, local cuisine from Outer Banks restaurants, and handmade goods from the area’s most creative artisan vendors.
Friday, the 26th marks Opening Night and the 80th Anniversary of The Lost Colony! This incredible stage production brings our nation’s oldest mystery to life through epic battles, Native american dances, elegant costuming and beautiful music at the Waterside Theatre in Manteo.
On Sunday, the 28th, gather up the kids and head out to Historic Corolla Park for a day of beach music and fun at the Memorial Day Beach Blast starting at noon.
The rest of the week is also packed with live music and lunch & dinner specials to check out at several Outer Banks restaurants.

Get out and enjoy the beautiful weather on the Outer Banks this week at some big outdoor events. This upcoming weekend, Kitty Hawk Kites is hosting the 45th Annual Hang Gliding Spectacular and Air Show at Jockey’s Ridge State Park from May 19th-22nd with competitions each day. The Spectacular and Air Show is FREE to the public for viewing with fun activities all weekend long.
Another event to get stoked about is the 2nd Annual Dare2Care OBX Shred Fest on Saturday, May 20th – a great event for a great cause held at the Outer Banks Event Site. The family-friendly event features demos by pro skateboarders, BMX riders, roller derby girls, Special Olympics athletes, tons of live music, food & beverages, art vendors, a silent auction, kids zone and more! Concert headliners include Southern Culture on the Skids and The Pharcyde with proceeds benefiting Dare2Care OBX.
The 6th Annual Mustang Spring Jam also takes place this weekend at Mike Dianna’s Grill Room in Corolla on Sunday, May 21st. There will be 2 stages of non-stop music starting at noon. The exciting lineup is comprised of funk, rock, and blues from Big Something, The London Souls, Urban Soil, Formula, Zack Mexico, and The Ramble.

Celebrate Mother’s Day Weekend with lots of exciting family-friendly events happening on the Outer Banks. This upcoming weekend marks the 34th Annual Yuengling Nags Head Woods 5K Run on Saturday morning, May 13th. Enjoy our great beaches, nature and history with a race through the Nature Conservancy’s Ecological Preserve. Then, grab the kids and head over to the Grand Opening of Dowdy Park from 10am-8pm. The Grand Opening is a free event featuring the Dare County Arts Council’s 28th Annual Artrageous Kids Art Festival from 10am-3pm, followed by a free outdoor concert from 3-8pm. Also held on Saturday the 13th, will be the 2017 Couture by the Shore, where fashion and fundraising unite to help the Outer Banks Relief Foundation from 11am-3pm at Kelly’s Restaurant in Nags Head.
