Weekly summer welcome party for OBX visitors from 6-8 p.m. each Wednesday from June 12-Aug. 7, at the Nags Head Hammocks store in Duck, 1212 Duck Road; (252) 261-1062. This event, free and open to the public, includes complimentary wine, beer and heavy hors d’oeuvres, plus family activities like cornhole games and live music (often to include steel drums!) in an atmosphere of relaxed OBX hospitality. Duck Summer Welcome Parties take place on the Duck Nags Head Hammocks store’s wide wooden deck crowded with hammocks, swings and a variety of comfy outdoor seating. In the event of rain, things will move inside.
