Top Outer Banks Events for the Week of October 2nd

Fall is here on the Outer Banks and with it comes a whole new slate of wonderful events. This week and upcoming Columbus Day Weekend includes some the year’s biggest Outer Banks events you won’t want to miss.

The final show of the year in the Pickin’ on the Porch Concert Series in Manteo is Tuesday, October 3rd. The Series goes out with a bang as the United States Navy Band performs at the Bluegrass Island Trading Co. starting at 6 pm. Grab a blanket or chair and come rock with us.

The 2017 Outer Banks Bluegrass Island Festival at Roanoke Island Festival Park runs from Wednesday, October 4th through Saturday, the 7th. The annual event features four days of down home cookin’ and good ole Southern pickin’ with a full line-up of top bluegrass bands all day each day.

Experience this year’s spectrum of select homes at the 25th Annual OBHBA Parade of Homes from Thursday, October 5th to Sunday, the 8th. Enjoy four autumn days at your own pace with self-guided tours of homes across the Outer Banks. Participating builders and Realtors are available to assist with investment, relocation, retirement or second home options.

The Inshore Slam Fishing Tournament is Friday & Saturday, October 6th & 7th at the Manteo Waterfront. See who can bring in the largest Striper, Flounder, Puppy Drum or Speckled Trout. There will be food, beverages, entertainment, a silent auction and awards banquet with live music and a pig pickin’.

The 16th Annual First Flight Rotary Club Oink & Oyster Roast will be held on Saturday, October 7th from 12 noon – 4 pm next to Longboard’s Island Grill in Kitty Hawk. Come out for great homemade local barbecue, mountains of steamed oysters, and all the fixins! All proceeds are used to support local charities on the Outer Banks.

The Town of Duck brings the 2017 Duck Jazz Festival to the Duck Town Park on Columbus Day weekend. Enjoy live music from a variety of jazz performers beginning on Saturday, October 7th and continuing on Sunday, October 8th with a full day of performances on two stages at this non-ticketed festival. Extend your Outer Banks stay to enjoy jazz-themed events and promotions taking place throughout Duck businesses and beyond. Be sure to get over to Sweet T’s on Saturday from 2 – 7 pm to celebrate Ducktoberfest with music and the year’s best selection of beer.

If that’s not enough entertainment for you, there’s even more live music nightly at restaurants all over the Outer Banks. Also check out the daily lunch & dinner specials at your favorite Outer Banks bars and restaurants.
