Outer Banks Events - Seafood Festival

Top Outer Banks Events for the Week of October 15th

Check out some of the great Fall events the Outer Banks has on the calendar this week and upcoming weekend.

Calling all nature lovers, the East coast’s premier wildlife festival, Wings Over Water, takes flight this week from Tuesday through Sunday, October 16-21. Six days in six national wildlife refuges, this annual festival features nearly 100 amazing wildlife trips and programs on Birding, Paddling, History, Photography, Art and more!

Fans of the summer’s Pickin’ on the Porch concert series will get a treat with one more special show on October 19th. Come rock with The Jones Sisters Band at the Bluegrass Island Trading Co. in downtown Manteo starting at 7 pm. They bring their bluegrass gospel style with a Celtic flair and hint of country to Manteo on Friday, then the Outer Banks Seafood Festival on Saturday. Set up your chairs and coolers and enjoy some BBQ and great tunes on the porch.

Leading up to Halloween this year, we have a new holiday event for a great cause. Outer Banks Tastes & Tales and Ghost Tours of the Outer Banks have teamed up to present the 1st Annual Haunts Against Hunger. Take a spooky walking ghost tour through haunted historic downtown Manteo. The tours run from Friday, October 19th through Thursday, October 25th with all proceeds benefiting the Roanoke Island Food Pantry. The event also includes special tours designed for younger children that are “just scary enough”.

If you haven’t picked out your perfect pumpkins yet, bring the kids to Island Farm in Manteo for Pumpkin Patch Saturdays. On October 20th from 10 am to 4 pm, take an ox-drawn wagon ride to the farm’s patch, find pumpkins and enjoy lots of other fun seasonal activities for you and your children.

This week’s main event is the Outer Banks Seafood Festival on Saturday, October 20th at the Soundside Event Site in Nags Head. The 7th Annual Seafood Festival will feature amazing local seafood, outer banks restaurants, and live music. The mission of the Outer Banks Seafood Festival is to provide a fun and educational experience promoting, honoring and celebrating our coastal seafood heritage and community.

There is always something to do on the Outer Banks. See our list of live music every night and daily lunch & dinner specials this week at your favorite Outer Banks bars and restaurants.
