Top Outer Banks Events for the Week of May 28th

After a beautiful Memorial Day weekend, the Outer Banks Summer season is underway with even more great events on the schedule this week.

On the first Friday of each month, the sidewalks, shops and restaurants of historic downtown Manteo come alive with music, arts, food, special sales and more during a fun, family-friendly street festival. Come celebrate First Friday on Roanoke Island this week on June 1st!

Also in Manteo this weekend is the 43rd Annual Dare Day Festival on the waterfront, Saturday, June 2nd. Visitors and the community come together for a day full of live music and entertainment, over 100 food and craft vendors, amusement rides, competitions and more. This annual celebration promises to be a great time for adults and kids alike!

This year’s Wind Voyager Triple-S Invitational starts this Saturday in Waves on Cape Hatteras, with competitions and parties every day throughout the week. Internationally recognized as the crown jewel of wakestyle kiteboarding events, the Triple-S showcases the talents of the best kiteboarders on the planet. The epic 2018 music lineup is headlined by 2 Chainz and The Roots.

The first ever Outer Banks Food Truck Showdown is on Sunday, June 3rd. Local food trucks, breweries, bands and acrobat performers will be showing their stuff at the Soundside Event Site in Nags Head from 1-5pm. An amazing selection of food, local beer, and wine will be for sale while admission and parking for the event are free.

The Summer season also brings a full slate of live music every night and daily lunch & dinner specials to check out at your favorite Outer Banks restaurants and bars.

Top Outer Banks Events for Memorial Day Weekend 2018

Memorial Day is the official start of Summer and what better way to kick it off than a fun weekend on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. This upcoming weekend features some big events and fun activities to get you started.

Opening Night of the 81st anniversary season of The Lost Colony is Friday, May 25th. This incredible stage production brings our nation’s oldest mystery to life through epic battles, Native american dances, elegant costuming and beautiful music at the Waterside Theatre in Manteo.

Dare County Arts Council hosts the 6th Annual Rock the Cape Festival, a celebration of the arts on Hatteras Island over Memorial Day weekend. From Rodanthe to Hatteras Village, experience live music, culinary art, an art show, family fun and more from May 26th-28th!

On Sunday, the 27th, gather up the family and head to Historic Corolla Park for a day of great beach music, dancing, and fun at the Memorial Day Beach Blast! Bring your beach chairs, relax and enjoy a line-up of live music starting at noon.

Looking for some laughs? Nationally renowned comedian, Mike Stankiewicz will be performing live with fellow comedian John Kensil for 3 nights, May 25th-27th, at The Comedy Club at the Comfort Inn in Kill Devil Hills.

Top Outer Banks Events for the Week of May 14th

Get out and enjoy the beautiful weather at some big outdoor events on the Outer Banks this week and upcoming weekend. Starting Thursday, Kitty Hawk Kites hosts its 46th Annual Hang Gliding Spectacular at Jockey’s Ridge State Park from May 17th through the 20th with competitions each day. The Spectacular is free to the public for viewing with fun activities for the family all weekend long.

Come rock with us at the Pickin’ on the Porch free concert series in downtown Manteo on Friday, May 18th. This year’s series kicks off with Lorraine Jordan & Carolina Road. Bring your chair, blankets & coolers and enjoy some great BBQ and live music starting at 7pm.

Get stoked for the 3rd Annual Dare2Care OBX Shred Fest on Saturday, May 19th – a great event for a great cause held at the Soundside Outer Banks Event Site. The family-friendly event features demos by pro skateboarders, BMX riders, roller derby girls, live music all day, food & beverages, art vendors, raffles, and more! This fundraising event supports our area veterans and special needs community members through Dare2Care OBX.

Also on Saturday, the Best Day Foundation presents Fun Day at the Beach at Jennette’s Pier in Nags Head. This event enables children and young adults with special needs to build confidence & self-esteem, expand their true potential, and reinforce their achievements through adventure activities such as Tandem Surfing, Bodyboarding, Stand Up Paddling, Kayaking, Beach Obstacle Courses and Fun Games.

Wrap up the week at the 7th Annual Mustang Spring Jam on Sunday, May 20th featuring the strongest lineup to date with five national touring bands playing non-stop live music at Mike Dianna’s Grill Room in TimBuck II Shopping Village in Corolla. They will be serving their outdoor cookout menu and selling beer, wine and cocktails throughout the event. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Corolla Wild Horse Fund and the Mustang Outreach Program.

Rev up your engines for the 16th Annual Outer Banks Bike Week starting this weekend on Saturday, April 21st and running through Sunday, the 29th. This 9-day event is packed full of entertainment, great food, events and special attractions including Bike Shows, Poker Runs, Guided Tours, Parties, Tattoo and Bikini Contests, Over 100 Vendors, Live Music, Outdoor Concerts, and MORE!

The Outer Banks Music Fest will rock the opening and closing weekends of Outer Banks Bike Week this year with concerts featuring local and national acts, vendors, and regional food. This weekend’s Kickoff Party features legendary rockers, Blackfoot on Saturday and Christopher Shayne on Sunday. Rain or Shine – Gates open at noon! This week, leading in to Halloween, the Outer Banks provides plenty of safe and positive Halloween celebrations with loads of fun for adults and kids of all ages.

Kick off your Halloween festivities with Trick or Treat Under the Sea at the North Carolina Aquarium on Thursday & Friday, October 26-27. Pirate skeletons, superheroes and princesses once again haunt the wild attraction for 2 nights of ghoulish good times. Games, magic shows, live animal encounters, and spooky divers swimming among the sharks offer thrills and chills from 6-8pm each night.

The Halloween International Film Festival comes to the Outer Banks from October 26-28, featuring 3 days of independent films submitted from around the world. All screenings will be shown at R/C Theatres Kill Devil Hills Movies 10, followed by nightly after parties, as well as costume contests, Scaryoke, special guest Q&A panels, meet and greets, photo ops, and more fun Halloween events.

The largest annual Halloween celebration on the Outer Banks returns to Kelly’s in Nags Head on Sunday, October 29. The 2017 Outer Banks Halloween Parade of Costumes includes trick-or-treating, special surprise guests, live entertainment, and of course Dare County’s ultimate costume contest. This free event starts with a pre-parade party at 2pm, followed by the walking parade beginning at 3pm, and the Awards Ceremony for the best costumes immediately after.

Also happening this week is not a Halloween event but just as thrilling, the OBX Brewtäg at the Soundside Event Site in Nags Head on Saturday, October 28. Contestants compete to see who can launch and fly an empty keg barrel the furthest. The sky is the limit as to how creative these homemade flying contraptions will be! Public admission is free and a crafty selection of local and regional beers plus tasty food will be available for purchase. This family-friendly event will also feature live music and plenty of activities for your kids!

This week, the Outer Banks is holding some big Fall events for charity, education, and fun!

Wings Over Water, the East coast’s premier wildlife festival, is Tuesday through Sunday, October 17-22. Six days in six national wildlife refuges, the 21st annual festival features over 90 amazing wildlife trips and programs on Birding, Paddling, History, Photography, Art and more!

Calling all tennis players! The TowneBank / Southern Insurance Agency Charity Classic Tennis Tournament will be held this weekend, Friday through Sunday, October 20-22 at the Duck Woods Country Club and Westside Athletic Club courts. The tournament is a fundraiser for local hospice care. There is still time to register, entries close Wednesday, October 18th.

The Outer Banks Seafood Festival is set for Saturday, October 21st at the Soundside Event Site. The 6th Annual Seafood Festival will feature amazing local seafood, outer banks restaurants, live music and entertainment all day! The mission is to provide a fun and educational experience promoting, honoring and celebrating our coastal seafood heritage and community.

Before you load up on seafood, get in some exercise for a great cause! The 4th Annual Century Ride For Life is Saturday morning from 7-10am. The Ride will wind through the beautiful Outer Banks of Dare and Currituck County, from ocean to sound and lighthouse to lighthouse. Proceeds will be split between Autism Research and Bikes for Kids at Christmas.

Top Outer Banks Events for the Week of October 2nd

Fall is here on the Outer Banks and with it comes a whole new slate of wonderful events. This week and upcoming Columbus Day Weekend includes some the year’s biggest Outer Banks events you won’t want to miss.

The final show of the year in the Pickin’ on the Porch Concert Series in Manteo is Tuesday, October 3rd. The Series goes out with a bang as the United States Navy Band performs at the Bluegrass Island Trading Co. starting at 6 pm. Grab a blanket or chair and come rock with us.

The 2017 Outer Banks Bluegrass Island Festival at Roanoke Island Festival Park runs from Wednesday, October 4th through Saturday, the 7th. The annual event features four days of down home cookin’ and good ole Southern pickin’ with a full line-up of top bluegrass bands all day each day.

Experience this year’s spectrum of select homes at the 25th Annual OBHBA Parade of Homes from Thursday, October 5th to Sunday, the 8th. Enjoy four autumn days at your own pace with self-guided tours of homes across the Outer Banks. Participating builders and Realtors are available to assist with investment, relocation, retirement or second home options.

The Inshore Slam Fishing Tournament is Friday & Saturday, October 6th & 7th at the Manteo Waterfront. See who can bring in the largest Striper, Flounder, Puppy Drum or Speckled Trout. There will be food, beverages, entertainment, a silent auction and awards banquet with live music and a pig pickin’.

The 16th Annual First Flight Rotary Club Oink & Oyster Roast will be held on Saturday, October 7th from 12 noon – 4 pm next to Longboard’s Island Grill in Kitty Hawk. Come out for great homemade local barbecue, mountains of steamed oysters, and all the fixins! All proceeds are used to support local charities on the Outer Banks.

The Town of Duck brings the 2017 Duck Jazz Festival to the Duck Town Park on Columbus Day weekend. Enjoy live music from a variety of jazz performers beginning on Saturday, October 7th and continuing on Sunday, October 8th with a full day of performances on two stages at this non-ticketed festival. Extend your Outer Banks stay to enjoy jazz-themed events and promotions taking place throughout Duck businesses and beyond. Be sure to get over to Sweet T’s on Saturday from 2 – 7 pm to celebrate Ducktoberfest with music and the year’s best selection of beer.

The Summer is slowly winding down on the Outer Banks but this upcoming weekend is still packed with lots of great events.

Need some laughs to get your mind off hurricanes for a bit? Comedian, Mike Stankiewicz, has appeared all over TV and gigged in nearly every comedy venue in the United States from LA to Atlantic City, from Mobile to Montana. Now you can catch him live at The Comedy Club in Kill Devil Hills for 1 night only on Thursday, September 14th at 8pm.

Join us at Oden’s Dock in Hatteras on Friday, September 15th & Saturday, the 16th for Day at the Docks, a celebration of community heritage in Hatteras Village. There will be 2 days of seafood, live music, competitions, demonstrations, children’s activities, educational information and more!

Saturday, the 16th kicks off the 2017 ESA Easterns Surfing Championship. The largest amateur surfing organization in the world hosts the season’s Grand Finale where the best of the best surfers go head to head for 7 days. Get out to the beach to watch the competition at Jennette’s Pier.

Oktoberfest already? That’s right. Celebrate Oktoberfest at TRiO all day on Saturday & Sunday, September 16th & 17th with German brews on tap, wine flights, and traditional dishes. The Outer Banks Brewing Station’s Oktoberfest begins at noon on Sunday in their backyard. Come out and enjoy brews and brats, German beer hall music, carnival games, and browse through local art tent. Kids are welcome!

Top Outer Banks Events & Live Music for Week of August 21st

This is a great week to get out to some of the fun events and big concerts happening on the Outer Banks.

If you still haven’t made plans to watch the solar eclipse, come out to Jockey’s Ridge State Park for The Carolinas Solar Eclipse Party from 1-4 PM today! Glasses will be distributed at the visitor center. Bring water, blankets, sunscreen, chairs and umbrellas. Don’t miss this once in a lifetime event!

Need some laughs? Comedian Mike Albanese will be performing his stand up act at The Comedy Club for 4 nights this week, Tuesday, August 22nd through Friday, August 25th. You may have seen Mike on the Discovery Channel, Travel Channel, BET, Netflix or Amazon. It’s sure to be a good time, he’s hilarious. His shows start at 9 PM each night.

The first Annual OBX Summer Send Off is Wednesday, August 23rd from 3-10 PM at historic Roanoke Island festival Park. This one day event benefitting the Mustang Outreach Program will feature performances by national touring acts JJ Grey & Mofro, the record Company, Travers Brothership and Ruth Wyand & The Tribe of One. There will be food, beer & wine, local artisan vendors selling their handcrafted arts & crafts, and even a kid zone with magicians, face-painting and more!

Thursday evening, the 24th, is the last show of the Concerts on the Green series for this Summer. Get out to the Duck Town Green to see Doby perform their high energy funk and soul tunes. The concert is from 6:30-8 PM.

Another great concert series continues on Friday the 25th in Manteo with Pickin’ on the Porch featuring 13 year old bluegrass phenom, Presley Barker! You have to see this amazing kid play, live at the Bluegrass Island Trading Co. at 6 PM.

This weekend offers a huge show on Saturday night the Outer Banks Brewing Station from national Ska, Rock and Soul recording artists, The Pietasters! Lace up your dancing shoes and get ready to rock – this is a world-class band that’s going to be a lot of fun. They hit the stage at 10:30 PM.

Finally, the week wraps up on Sunday, August 27th with the Outer Banks Wedding Association’s 25th Anniversary event, The OBX Wedding Fest, at Pirate’s Cove Pavilion. This event provides engaged couples access to premier professionals such as photographers, florists, planners, and officiants in a beautiful, laid back setting.

Top Outer Banks Events for Week of August 14th

This week and upcoming weekend is loaded with festivals and events for everyone throughout the Outer Banks.

The 34th Pirate’s Cove Billfish Tournament kicks off with registration today then 4 days of fishing from Tuesday, Aug. 15th ending Friday, Aug 18th with the awards celebration. Tournament Week includes awesome sponsors, food, entertainment and fun for the crew and the family. Fans can follow along listening in on real time captain chatter and live webcasts of the results each day!

The New World Festival of the Arts returns to the Manteo waterfront this week on Wednesday & Thursday, Aug. 16th & 17th. The annual juried outdoor art show features paintings, drawings, photography, jewelry, sculpture, pottery and more from over 75 nationally recognized artists. Come check out the show from 10am-5pm each day with free admission and parking.

Also on Wednesday & Thursday is the Outer Banks Pirate Festival hosted by Kitty Hawk Kites at Jockey’s Ridge Crossing. Bring the kids out for a swashbuckling’ good time with a full schedule of fun and educational activities both days.

Celebrate the birthday of Virginia Dare on Friday, Aug. 18th at the Virginia Dare Faire with free activities and entertainment all day on the grounds of the Fort Raleigh National Park Site. The event continues at night with a performance of The Lost Colony.
