Top Outer Banks Events for the Week of August 6th

It’s a great time to check out some of the summer event series that the area has to offer.

This is an awesome week for acoustic country and bluegrass music on the Outer Banks. On Thursday, August 9th, the Concerts on the Green Series in Duck presents the Chisman Creek Band out of Tidewater, VA from 6:30-8pm. They have a unique style that blends traditional and contemporary bluegrass and classic rock. Then, on Friday, the Pickin’ on the Porch Concert Series in historic downtown Manteo features The Gravy Boys at 7pm. The Gravy Boys make acoustic Americana music by adding a cup of country, a pinch of roots rock, a handful of honky-tonk, a splash of bluegrass, and a dash of hobo folk. Don’t forget your chairs, blankets and coolers for these outdoor shows!

There are even more individual acts in that same general genre. The Wilders are playing from 6-9pm on Monday, August 6th in the backyard at the Bonzer Shack and also on Saturday the 11th out back at the Outer Banks Brewing Station from 5-8:30pm. This local treasure’s repertoire consists of acoustic blues, old country and classic rock. If acoustic rock and country is your thing, you should also check out Natalie Wolfe at the Brewing Station on Thursday, August 9th. Natalie has some of the best vocals on the beach.

Looking to add some fitness to your vacation? This is also the perfect week to kick off your flip-flops and lace up your running shoes. There are plenty of summer race series you can try.
